Hi,
my grandmother, Ingeborg Ribsskog, from Denmark, told me she was from the Danish noble-family, Gjedde, before she died last summer.
The Danish noble-assosiation, tells me this noble-line no longer exists.
But I've been doing a bit genealogy, and it could be a Gedde-line, that were an officer-family, from Zealand, in Denmark, which were noble from Charlotte von Geldern, from Churland.
This goes well with that my younger sister, is named Pia _Charlotte_ Ribsskog, like Charlotte von Geldern, (even if noone has told me why she has this name).
I've read that Kurland, is in todays Latvia, and I thougt I could send an e-mail to the University in Latvia, since I'm also a Nordic citizen, from Norway, who has studied a bit at least, at the University of Oslo.
Here is all I've managed to find on the internet:
It says that Kristian Gedde, (Danish officer),who lived from 1648 to 1707, was married with Charlotte von Geldern, 'af Kurlandsk Adel', (of Churlandian nobility).
The name is also written 'von Geideren', later in the same book.
I was wondering if this is a well-know family, (von Gelderen or von Geideren), in Latvia, or if you know which organisation etc., in Latvia, that one can ask about this.
Thank you very much for any help in advance!
Yours sincerely,
Erik Ribsskog
