The first thing to know is that if you do receive a claim or chargeback from one of your buyers, PayPal Seller Protection can cover you. As long as you follow our guidelines and the transaction is eligible*, you’re protected at no extra cost.

WHAT ARE CLAIMS?
|
|
If one of your buyers is unhappy with a purchase for any reason, the first step is usually to open a dispute so that you can communicate directly. If you cannot resolve a dispute between yourselves, the buyer may escalate it to a claim.

A chargeback is when a buyer asks their credit card company to reverse a transaction. This is of course frustrating if you've already posted the item, so it’s important to know how to manage and avoid these situations.

How do I know this is not a Spoof email? Spoof or ‘phishing’ emails tend to have generic greetings such as "Dear PayPal member". Emails from PayPal will always address you by your first and last name. Find out more here.
