Hei,

Subject: Can’t Start, Won’t Start: Tips to Overcome Procrastination!

Why do TODAY what you could, instead, do TOMORROW…or even the NEXT day? Procrastination, once it rears its’ ugly head, is a difficult beast to tame! Once you slip into the mindset of putting off your responsibilities, in favor of an activity that you feel is more enjoyable or worthwhile, it is next to impossible to snap out of it.
With some clever tips n’ tricks from the IOU, you can put an end to procrastination once and for all!
5. Create a productive work environment that is quiet and free from distractions. Be proactive in cultivating your own space to study and work. It should only have the basic necessities, such as a desk and a chair, so that you can stay on task.
4. Make a “To-Do” List and stick to it! Easily list each task, by order of importance, on a clean sheet of paper. Then tape it onto a focal wall so its’ in your line of vision and ready to be addressed immediately. Check each task off as you complete it and bask in the sense of accomplishment, which will inspire you to complete the next one!
3. Reassess your goals. What do you want? What are you trying to achieve? Stop and think about your goals. What motivated you to embark upon this journey in the first place? Go back to the beginning and remember the “whys”. It will encourage you to get back in the driver’s seat and put procrastination in the trunk!
2. Take 5! Five minutes that is! Once you’re completely focused on a task or study session, it’s easy to feel tired or bored. Instead of pushing on for hours, which might cause you to procrastinate studying next time, set a stopwatch for a 5-minute break (per hour). Choose an activity that will help rejuvenate your mind and body. Jog in place for a few minutes or simply stretch for a little while. In just 5 minutes, you can recharge and refocus your energies.
1. The, hands down, number #1 way to stop procrastinating is to take it easy on YOURSELF! You’re only human. And if you beat yourself up for not completing a task on time, it will only serve to make matters worse. Instead, forgive yourself for your shortcomings and commit to do better next time. And then do it!
