Hi,
I’m having some problems with the Faculties at the university, (even if Accommodation have been fine and let me live at temporary accommodation, untill the mentioned problems are solved).
My old faculty, Faculty of Applied Sciences, aren’t replying to my e-mails now, even if Accommodation are waiting for them.
Also, due to the problems with that faculty, I was wondering if I could start studying History now, but was told History was ‘full’.
Is that right, can they just tell old students their full, I’m wondering a bit, is it really a problem with one student more studying History, I’m wondering a bit.
Hm.
The problem is I’m registered as ‘LEFT’ with FAS.
But how can I be registered as ‘LEFT’ with a University?
Are University of Sunderland a university or a boarding-school?
I’ve earlier in Norway studied at an academy, (Den Polytekniske Hoeyskole), in the town Sandvika, even if I lived in Oslo.
I would have understood it if Accommodation had registered me as ‘LEFT’, but a Faculty/the University??
That I think is very strange.
It’s like a boarding school.
To be a bit direct, why do you run a University if you don’t know the difference between a university and a boarding-school?
This seems very odd to me.
I’m not allowed to get my old project-files from 2005 and am not allowed to get a transcript from your language-faculty regarding my TOEFL-test, (which I got the best grade on, in 2004).
I hope you can please get the Faculty of Applied Sciences to answer me.
I’m trying to find out what my options are.
It’s seems to me they are perhaps harassing me a bit, since they don’t reply.
I’ve also contacted the Business and Law-faculty, regarding advice about an employement-case, against Arvato, from 2006, but they don’t reply.
Also, on the induction, in 2004, the induction-manager, told a college, why did I want to go there when I had fine files from my two home-universities in Norway.
(The answer was of course that I wanted a proper degree, like a Bachelor Degree).
This de-motivatied me, and I’m wondering if I really have a degree then, since my files from my two home universities are ‘very good’.
I’ve contacted the university about this as well, but haven’t got any reply.
I was wondering who I should send it to now, since I’ve already sent a reminder, to the Faculty of Applied Sciences, and thought I’d send about this, to the Chief Executive, since also Accommodation, and two or three other faculties are involved.
I had serious problems with my home university, Oslo University College, and the Norwegian Study Loan Bank, (Laanekassa), in 2004.
But I’ve now lived in the UK since 2005, (2004), and am eligble for UK study-finance.
(I’ve contacted the university about a payment-plan, in 2007 and 2008, but haven’t got a reply).
So I think it shouldn’t be any problem with the study-finance this year.
Am also unemployed at the moment, so am also considering studying part-time, but am having problems with getting answers about clearing, etc.
E.g. the woman who said History was ‘full’, didn’t tell me her name, as far as I remember.
Am also a member of the University of Sunderland Alumni, since I’m a gradute, in the way that I’ve got a foundation-degree, a ‘Hoegskolekandidat’-degree, from my Home University, Oslo University College.
When I studied here in 2004/05, I was accepted on the third year of a Bachelor of Science, in Computing-degree.
I had to get my modules accepted by my Home University, to get a study-loan, from Norway, so I changed the modules a bit, so I also had two second year-modules since I worked a lot in Norway, and was a bit behind schedule, and wanted to learn the programming-language ‘C’, etc.
So I was both at the third year of Computing and at the Study Abroad-programme, in 2004/05.
(At least my Student Union-card says this).
I just tried to write the relevant information about my studies, in this e-mail.
I got my study-loan four months late, in January 2005, and when the Forge told me to move to another flat, in February 2005, then I moved to London, to try to find employment.
Since Frode Eika Sandnes, from Oslo University College, had told me it was impossible for me to find a job in the North East.
And since my modules had been very delaied, due to that I had to use a lot of time on my financial-problems due to the problems with the study-loan, etc.
So I reackoned it would be smart to try to find a job and accommodation, before all my money were gone.
Hope this make sense, please just tell me if there’s something I need to clearify.
Hope this is alright!
Yours sincerely,
Erik Ribsskog

Hi,
I can’t see that I’ve recieved a reply to this e-mail.
I’m at the library at St. Peters now.
I was at the Goldman-building, but there were no computers there now.
I was wondering if I could please have my old log-in back, for the University intranet.
There’s also a possibility I could study part-time, while I search for new jobs, since I’m unemployed at the moment, unfortunately.
I would need to speak with someone about this.
Like I’ve explained to you, I think I really have a Bachelor-degree, (I’ve sent you my files from my two home-universities in Norway).
So I could perhaps start on a Master-degree in Computing?
Would this be alright?
I’m trying to find out more about my options.
I’m sending a copy e-mail to Dr. Erwin, since he helped me with advice regarding the modules, the last time I studied here, in 2004/05.
Hope you can give me some more informartion regarding how to find my modules.
I really need a log in to the intranet, and a new library-card, I only have my Student Union-card from 2004/05.
Could you please tell me how I could get a new library-card and log in to the intranet.
My student-number is: 049039692.
Yours sincerely,
Erik Ribsskog
PS.
I’ve lived in the UK, since 2005, (2004), now, so I’m not like a regular study abroad stuent, any longer, I can also get e.g. UK study-finance.

Hi,
I’m back at the University now, and lives at temporary accommodation, in Clanny House.
Have been speaking with Leslie at accommodation.
She said I’ll get permanent accommodation, when I’ve got on a study-programme.
I was really on third year Bachelor in 2004/05, like my Student Union card says, and my modules show.
Who do I speak with about the modules?
Is it the same modules still, or do they have new codes?
Should I go to meet you at St. Peters?
What do I say to the Murray Library, to let me have a new library-card?
(I only got access to the internet for one day there now).
Thanks again for the transcript.
Yours sincerely,
Erik Ribsskog

Hi,
sorry that I was a bit inpolite in the last e-mail.
It’s a bit hot for me in Liverpool, I think, since I’m from Norway.
But anyway, I try again.
When I studied in Sunderland, in 2004/05, then I had a Project-module, COM 325, (see attach transcript), which I made some files for, before I moved to London, in February 2005.
These files where a project description and a project-plan, and research-areas, etc.
I remember that copies of the mentioned files, was stored, in the class-rom, for the Project module, in the Vardy building, down-stairs.
I was just wondering if I could please have a copy of these files sent me, from the University, (just scans would be very fine, so that it wouldn’t cost you anything, in postage).
The originals are at my uncle Martin’s woman Grete Ingebrigtsen farm, in Kvelde, in Norway, where I was chased from, by a hunting-team, in the summer of 2005, a murder-case that the Police don’t want to investigate.
My relatives don’t want to send me my files, and clothes etc., from the suit-case, which I brought from Sunderland.
So I was wondering if you could please send this files, so I could explain to the lecturer from your Faculty of Psychology, who ordered the Project, (which was a calender, for students), why I couldn’t finish the assignment, (my study-loan was delayed for four months, and my studies got very lagged, so I decided to instead try to find a job, before my founds ran out).
The course lecturer’s name was Peter White, as far as I can rememeber.
And they really had some roastings there, with also another lecturer, who joined in, so I was roasted by two lecturers, at the same time, regarding the Project’s progress.
It was like on TV, with the apprentice.
(Or even worse).
Something like this.
I attach a copy of my transcript, where the code for this module, is marked.
Hope this is alright!
Sorry again about the problems in the last e-mail!
Yours sincerely,
Erik Ribsskog

ok, I didn’t know that the University of Sunderland is a boarding-school.
It’s not a proper University if one have to live at campus to be a student there, I reackon.

ok, thank you very much!
I was also wondering, do I still have an account on the University’s intranet, where I can log on, and find test-results, etc?
I’ll try to contact the other faculty about the language module.
Thank you very much for the help!

There is no English test on your record at all. The Faculty of Applied Sciences (which is us) would deal with the computing modules you took but not the programme as a whole. As there is no record of you ever taking an English test so I would not be able to tell you the name of it.
The Faculty of Education and Society deal with study abroad students as a whole and maybe they can help with your query. They can be contact on bell.morgan@sunderland.ac.uk

Hi,
your last e-mail was a bit unspecific, I think, which faculty do you refer to, I was wondering?
Can’t you at least tell me what the test was called, (was it Trofl), then I could take it from there.

Hi,
thank you very much for your reply!
I remember that us students at Study Abroad, had an English-test, one of the first weeks, at Sunderland.
I was wondering what the name of this test was again, and how to get a statement, showing my result on this test.

Hi,
thank you very much for your e-mail!
Could you please confirm that I got the best grade, on the initial language-test, (Trofl-test?), and therefore didn’t have to have an English-module.
(Since I had to interrupt my studies, then it would have been fine to get this confirmed, so that I could at least brag about something, after my interrupted year there).
Hope this is alright, and thank you very much for sending the transcript!

Hi,
ok, that’s a good idea.
I was both an international studend, and at the same time, I had gotten a place on the Bachelor of Science, Computing, Final Year-study.
So I don’t know who to contact really.
It was a young woman with blonde hair, who was the leader at the International Office, in 2004/05, but I don’t remeber her name at the moment, unfortunately.
But I could try to call the International Office again I guess, and hear with them, if they remember the name of the leader there then.
Thanks again for the help!
