    Hi,

I read about this vacancy on the Jobcentre Plus website.

I have a two-year university-level degree, in IT, from Oslo University College, Faculty of Engineering, from 2009.
    I have a web-shop which I've designed myself from scratch, on www.godtebutikken.net.
I also have a diploma in Marketing, from Upper Secondary School, and have also had a Marketing-module, at university-level, from when I studied Information Management, at a private university college, (NHI, now NITH who also co-operate with Brunel University in London), in Oslo, in the early 90's.

I have good communication-skills, from working ten years as a Retail Manager, and I also have a well-read Norwegian blog, www.johncons-mirror.blogspot.com, where I get to practice my communication-skills.

I'm unemployed at the moment so I could start as soon as possible.
I attach my CV and hope to hear back from you!

    Yours sincerely,

    Erik Ribsskog

    Hi Mr. Nesbit,

now I found something more, about Scandinavian culture.
First one thing, in Norway and Sweden, we say that Scandinavia is only Denmark, Sweden and Norway.

    Fact.
This is because of the culture, we have almost the same language and the stereotype in these countries is blond.
Where as Finland is the odd Nordic country.

So when you ask if I speak Finnish, since I'm from Norway.
You might as well have asked if I speak Russian, since I'm from Norway.
Not because Russand and Finnish are similar.

But because both languages and cultures, are very different from Scandinavian, (Norwegian, Swedish and Danish), culture.
    Hope this explains it better.
Found the comic on Nordic Society in Manchester Facebook-page.

    Best regards,
    Erik Ribsskog

    Hi,

ok, I complained a bit about you, because you ridiculed me, because I didn't speak Finnish, so I sent a complaint to the Jobcentre, so I send a copy e-mail to them.

    Hi,

today I was at my first meeting, at 12 Noon, at the Work Programme, at Ingeus, in the Corn Exchange, in Liverpool.
And spoke with Paul there, I think his name was.

Something irritates me, after that meeting.

He ridiculed me a bit, since I didn't speak Finnish, even if I'm from Norway, (another Nordic country).
I think he asked me about this just to ridicule me.

He first asked if Norwegian and Swedish weren't similar languages, which I comfirmed they were.
Then he smiled and laughed at me, since I didn't speak Finnish, which he thought was an Indo European-language.

I explained that Finnish is related to Hungarian, and that I thought those languages were something to do with Atilla the Hun.
Now I read on Wikipedia, that those langauges are called 'Uralic languages'.

Why did he ask me about this, in the first meeting?

He was just trying to pick at me, I think.

To ask someone from Norway if they speak Finnish, is about the same as asking an Englishman, if he speaks Welsh.

And then to laugh of him, if he doesn't.
    That's harassment, I think.
    And very inpolite.
I think I couldn't have done that in Norway, towards a Brit.

I would probably have had to have the interview in English then.
So I think it's unfair that Norwegians get picked on, and harassed like this, and this irritates me now, after the meeting.

This was an attack, I think, and not like they had a Finnish-speaking job there for me, or anything.
I wanted to complain about this, since I don't have the e-mail address to Paul there, at Ingeus, and haven't gotten his card, then I send this to you.

    Hope this is alright!

    Yours sincerely,

    Erik Ribsskog
