    it isn’t fine, that people have to double-check very figure/number/calculation on an invoice, I think.

    I’ve asked for a reply from the Managing Director, about this.

    I don’t understand what’s going on.

    Why is this reply from someone else than the Managing Director.

    This (that you mess with the figures/calculations on the invoice) we call ‘tusking’ in Norway.

    If you want to add VAT from September on an invoice, you should write a dedicated line on the invoice, where it’s explained about this (I think).

    You shouldn’t just add this VAT with another amount, and pretend that it hasn’t been added (by adding two dollars on the VAT from this month, and just referring to it as Januarys VAT).

    This I have to complain about.

    This must be that you are having April fools day, a bit early, this year.

    I don’t buy this.

    Why would a big company do ‘tusking’ like this.

    Please escalate to the Managing Director.

    and I am a Project Coordinator working on the VAT Compliance Project here
    at DreamHost.

    I see there’s been some confusions about your VAT charges, and the amount
    due, dating back to your first email on January 20th. Some of those
    charges have been cancelled since then, but I can take us back to what
    the invoices were at the time, and help to explain that situation.

    The VAT due for services rendered on January is $6.50, as you noted. That
    was for the renewal of johncons.net, as well as the renewal of the Shared
    Starter hosting plan:

    DATE CHARGED SERVICE CHARGE
    2024-01-19 Tax Charges $4.50 (VAT for the Domain Registration)
    2024-01-19 Tax Charges $2.00 (VAT for the Starter Shared plan)
    2024-01-19 Shared Starter $7.99
    2024-01-19 johncons.net 1 year renewal $17.99

    As we can see, $17.99 + $7.99 = $25.98, and $25.98 x .25 = $6.50.

    This is what your invoices reflect now. What WAS on your invoices, that
    has since been removed by Justin, was an additional $2.00 for VAT that
    was not collected in September of 2023, for your Starer Shared hosting
    plan. VAT was correctly collected from October forward, which is why you
    are not seeing any other VAT charges for previous purchases. Only the VAT
    from September was missing.

    Since that charge was cancelled, it is not on your invoices any longer,
    but I will break that charge and VAT down below, to help to shed some
    light on the discrepancy you were seeing:
    DATE CHARGED SERVICE CHARGE
    2023-09-19 Shared Starter $7.99
    2024-01-19 Tax Charges $2.00 (VAT for the Starter Shared plan —
    this charge was cancelled, so was not paid, and does not appear on your
    invoices any longer)

    Because that additional VAT charge was added late, your overall bill was
    $2.00 higher. However, as I mentioned before, Justin cancelled that
    charge when it was clear there was some confusion and displeasure with
    that being added later. Again, I do apologize about the confusion that
    caused you.

    I hope this helps to clear up where that additional VAT came from — if
    you have any other questions please don’t hesitate to reach out again!

    Added Tax was being calculated properly across a number of different
    countries.

    VAT is a relatively new addition to DreamHost customer invoices and it’s
    easy to miss, particularly if you don’t personally handle the billing for
    your account. As a reminder, all VAT charges are mandated by law per each
    country’s regulators; we merely collect and pass on the money to the
    government (and trust us, we don’t enjoy doing it!).

    I’d be happy to refund this charge as a one-time courtesy, and cover your
    VAT obligations internally and out of our pocket. I have just done so on
    your account. Your account balance is now $0.

    If there’s anything else we can do for you, please let us know.

    Som jeg har blogget om tidligere.

    Så har det vært veldig mye problemer, med Angelfire sin reklamer, i årenes løp.

    I mange år (fra 2016 til 2020, eller noe i den duren) så stod det ordet: ‘Undefined’ på toppen av nettstedet (istedet for at var en ordentlig reklame der).

    Så da så det mer eller mindre ut, som at det var en ‘bug’, når det gjaldt min webdesign.

    (Må man vel si).

    Og etter at jeg fikk meg mirror-nettsted (i 2020).

    Så har Angelfire snudd ‘reklame-greiene’ sine på hue, liksom.

    (For å si det sånn).

    For en stor og klossete reklame, som de har pleid å ha under nettstedet.

    Den har de istedet satt på toppen av nettstedet (hvor de før dette pleide å ha en lav ‘leaderboard-reklame’ (som det vel heter) i mange år).

    Og så har de istedet satt en lav reklame under (og vel også oppå) nettstedet.

    (Noe sånt).

    Og ikke nok med det.

    Men de har nå også vikla noen reklamer, inn i sjølve designen.

    (Som man kan se i PS 3).

    Så man kan kanskje lure på om dette er noe slags aprilsnarr på etterskudd (eller noe lignende) fra Angelfire.

    Hm.

    Så sånn er muligens det.

    Bare noe jeg tenkte på.

    Men men.

    PS 6.

    I forbindelse med at jeg gjorde om til den gamle designen igjen (på mirror-nettstedet).

    Så ble det muligens litt rot, med et par nettsider.

    (Noe jeg har skrevet opp om, på en huskelapp).

    Så det er litt å rydde opp, her og der.

    Og det mangler også et par mobil-sider (for ‘Bøker’-siden og ‘Min Bok 5’-siden) på mirror-nettstedet.

    (For disse mobil-sidene ble seende like ut (som PC-sidene) med den tidligere ‘mobilside-aktige’ designen (når det gjelder PC-sidene (på mirror-nettstedet)).

    Så derfor var det ikke noe vits å lage de.

    Tenkte jeg).

    Og det er også sånn, at den StatCounter-koden, som nå er, på PC-sidene, på mirror-nettstedet.

    Det er StatCounter-koden til Angelfire-nettstedet.

    Så jeg må bytte ut StatCounter-koden, på alle PC-nettsidene, på mirror-nettstedet.

    (For å si det sånn).

    Så jeg kommer nok til å drive med dette ‘rydde-greiene’ i X antall dager fremover.

    Og så blir det mobilbilder osv., seinere denne måneden.

    (Hvis alt går etter planen).

    Og så blir det nettmobbing-mailer hele neste måned.

    (Siden at de mailene er en del måneder, på etterskudd.

    Men da får jeg se om jeg blir ferdig med alle 2022-mailene, ihvertfall.

    Når det gjelder mobil-nettstedet.

    Så var det jo sånn, at da jeg begynte å lage mobil-sider (rundt 2018, var det vel).

    At jeg sjekka først, at de ble seende greie ut, på Angelfire-shellet.

    Men nå har Angelfire gjort et eller annen rart der og, sånn at nettstedet ikke ser ut (på grunn av en sånn ‘tulle-reklame’ øverst).

    (Må man vel si).

    Så sånn er det.

    Bare noe jeg tenkte på.

    Det at det står ordet: ‘Undefined’ på/ved Angelfire sine reklamer.

    (Som i PS 8.

    Og som nevnt i PS 5).

    Det er muligens på grunn av, noe med cookies (tenker jeg nå).

    Hvis reklamen ikke finner noen cookies, på PC-en/mobil-en.

    Så skriver den muligens bare ordet: ‘Undefined’.

    (Noe sånt).

    Men det blir jo da seende veldig halvveis ut (må man vel si).

    Og man må vel si at det er en slags bug, at dette ordet (‘Undefined’) stadig dukker opp på skjermen.

    Det hadde vært mye bedre, hvis det ikke dukket opp.

    (Må man vel si).

    Men det er kanskje sånn, at noen koreanske nerder (eller noe lignende) som firmaet Kakao har ansatt, ikke skjønner dette.

    Og så blir det bare tull, da.

    (For å si det sånn).

    Det var kanskje sånn, at i gamle dager, så var det sånn, at hvis reklamen ikke fant noen cookies.

    Så stod det: ‘Få deg et gratis Angelfire-shell du og’ (på engelsk).

    Og så har de slutta med gratis-shell.

    Og så har de bare gjort noe tull, med ‘reklame-systemet’, som de har arvet, fra de tidligere amerikanske eierne.

    Og så blir det seende sånn harry ut, da.

    (For å si det mildt).

    Så sånn er muligens det.

    Bare noe jeg tenkte på.

    Men men.

    PS 11.

    Nå så jeg nærmere på annonsen i PS 8.

    Og det står jo nettopp det (til venstre for der det står ‘Undefined’) at man kan bygge et gratis nettsted selv (på Angelfire).

    (Man kan bruke noe som kalles Website Builder, og bygge et eget nettsted.

    Og man kan også bruke noe som kalles Web Shell (som jeg har gjort).

    Og der kan man lage et eget nettsted, ved å bruke HTML og CSS (som på et vanlig web-hotell nesten, bare at FTP/SFTP ikke virker, så det blir litt knotete med backup, osv.)).

    Men jeg sjekka Angelfire-bloggen.

    Og den var ikke oppdatert siden 2012.

    Og Angelfire sin Facebook-side har ikke blitt oppdatert siden 2014 (kan det virke som).

    Og jeg mener å ha lest et sted, at Angelfire har slutta med gratis-shell.

    Men det gjelder muligens bare Web Shell-kontoer.

    Hm.

    Så sånn er muligens det.

    Bare noe jeg tenkte på.

    Angelfire sitt Web Shell-interface/verktøy virker visst fortsatt og de minste kontoene er fortsatt gratis (selv om de bare er på 20MB, så man har lite plass til bilder, osv.):

    Jeg kan jo gjøre det sånn først.

    At jeg linker til mirror-nettstedet (som har en reklame-fri løsning) fra bloggen (når man trykker på Sovjetstat-flagget).

    Fram til at jeg finner ut, hva som er problemet, med Angelfire-reklamene.

    Random-nettstedet ser også dumt ut på mobil (når det gjelder reklamen øverst (som det blir et slags hakk i) og det står også ordet: ‘Undefined’, to ganger under hverandre):

    Så jeg må si, at hoved-problemet.

    Det er ikke det at mobil-nettstedet nå ser rart ut på Angelfire.

    For det er visst likt når det gjelder alle Angelfire-nettsteder (når man surfer på mobil).

    (Kan det virke som).

    Men hoved-problemet er de reklamene, som har sneket seg inn, i ‘hovedvinduet’ (var det vel at jeg kalte det) på johncons-web.

    De reklamene (i PS 3) hører vel mer hjemme, litt lenger opp på skjermen.

    (For å si det sånn).

    Så jeg får se om det er mulig å gjøre noe med det.

    (Noe sånt).

    Selv om meny-en og logo-en og det, da muligens kommer for langt ned på skjermen.

    (Hvis jeg finner en måte, å få de nevnte reklamene, til å dukke opp, overfor det som liksom er min design.

    For å si det sånn).

    Hm.

    Og dette er også noe, som jeg kan drive litt mer research på etterhvert.

    Og sjekke ut fler Angelfire-nettsteder osv. (for å prøve å komme rundt dette med Angelfire-reklamene litt, og prøve å skjønne hvordan de fungerer, for Angelfire-bloggen var ikke oppdatert siden 2012, så der stod det ikke noe om dette ihvertfall, for å si det sånn).

    Så sånn er muligens det.
