    Mvh.

Team, we’re inching closer and closer to the finish line.
The Georgia runoff is on the horizon, and we need your support now more than ever.
We’ve come too far in our electoral and political efforts to risk Mitch McConnell holding onto his power in the Senate. We’ve come too far to lose sight of the legislation that could directly benefit our communities. And we’ve come too far in this fight to lose it all on January 5th.
This is no ordinary election, and the stakes are too high.
We’ve been working around-the-clock to ensure we can flip Georgia blue for the second time. How this election goes will be the determining factor in the decisions being made in the Senate when Trump (finally) leaves office. Decisions that’ll impact Black folks for decades to come.
Team, we cannot afford to lose. We need to reach as many folks as possible to remind them about what’s at stake. Will you please rush a donation of $5 or more to help fund our voter outreach efforts?
If you’ve saved your payment information with ActBlue Express, your donation will go through immediately:
    Express Donate $5
    Express Donate $25
    Express Donate $50
    Express Donate $100

Black people handed the victory to Joe Biden and Kamala Harris in Georgia. Black people single-handedly saved this democracy. Despite the obstacles of voter suppression, we’ve proven time and again that we show up. Black folks turn out in record numbers, and our presence will make all the difference in January, as it did in November.
To be fully transparent: In order to win elections, we need to raise money. We are gearing up for our next set of voter outreach efforts, along with a huge ad buy — and how big we can go depends on how much we raise.
Right now, we’re coming up short on our Georgia runoff goal. Every little bit will help us close that gap. So, team, will you help raise the funds we need for our next ad buy and voter outreach efforts in support of Jon Ossoff and Rev. Warnock?
    DONATE
It’s been a long time coming, and for so long, November 3rd was the finish line. While we couldn’t have predicted that the Georgia Senate results would ultimately lead to a runoff, it’s even more of a reminder that still, our work is not done, and our work will not be done until Black Lives Matter.
These next few weeks are going to be as intense as they were leading up to Election Day in November. As we gear up for our latest ad buy, that’s not all we’re doing. We’re going to be making calls to voters in Georgia, texting folks to remind them about what’s at stake, and partnering with groups like the Working Families Party to continue the grassroots efforts that’ll bring us victory in January. And we’re on the ground in Georgia coordinating with an amazing team of grassroots organizations and organizers who have been doing the work for decades to make these runoffs even possible.
This work is only possible because folks around the country have stepped up and chipped in whatever they can to power the organizing, to support the volunteers, and get our ads in front of voters.
But we’re halfway through December, and we’re running short. Team, please chip in today so these next four years are different than the last.

    YEAR END GIFT BANNER.png
    Miss,
We’ll be honest, this has been a hard year and we know you’ve felt it, too. With so many things going on around us, we know your focus has been elsewhere, and we understand that. But with the news that the IRS has announced a special $300 tax deduction for those who give to non-profit organizations like ours, we wanted to reach out to ask you for your support as we approach the end of the year.
Donate today to take advantage of the $300 CARES Act Tax Deduction.
We have big plans for 2021 and beyond, and while we have the team and conviction to make things happen, we need your help to make them a reality. Fighting attacks, lifting the voices of trans leaders, mobilizing around important issues, and working tirelessly for the most marginalized in our community takes resources, and we’re asking you to come through for us once again.
Make your year-end contribution to fund NCTE’s efforts into 2021 and claim your CARES Act tax deduction today.
As we wrap up 2020, we reflect an incredible year of hard work and major wins. But, those wins wouldn’t be possible without the help of generous donors like you. We also know that there are so many causes you find important, so we at NCTE are even more grateful when you choose to support our organization.
So, thank you, as always, for being on this journey with us.

It’s almost a wrap on 2020, and although this has been a difficult and unexpected year for all, we are proud of what the students and staff at the NFTS have continued to achieve throughout the year. The cameras have continued to roll at the School and students have shot their brilliant graduation films, first year films, live studio shows and created unique video games.
We are delighted that throughout the year, so many industry greats gave their time to talk to our students via Zoom. The first of the lockdown Masterclasses was back in March when David Fincher hosted a private session for our students, talking very candidly about his incredible career. Last week, David delivered a sequel and gave the students an early Christmas present delivering another amazing Masterclass on his newly released film, Mank.
If you have not yet seen our 90 minute compilation film, the NFTS ‘Masterclass of Masterclasses’, this is still available to watch online. The video features clips from just some of the special guests who very kindly gave our students online Masterclasses during the first lockdown.
Other big names that have been kind enough to give us their time recently include The Third Day director Philippa Lowthorpe, actor and director Viggo Mortensen and Vice President of Google and Head of Stadia Games, Phil Harrison.
We are looking forward to another great year in 2021, where the NFTS will be celebrating its 50th anniversary!
We wish you a Merry Christmas and a Happy New Year.

New NFTS National Hub in Wales for 2021
We were delighted to recently announce the newest NFTS national hub based at BBC Cymru Wales’s new broadcast centre in Central Square in Cardiff.
NFTS Wales, in partnership with BBC Cymru Wales and Creative Wales, will become operational from April 2021 with enrolment for the first intake of courses starting in Summer 2021.
Following the successful opening of hubs in Glasgow and Leeds in addition to its main site in Beaconsfield, NFTS Wales will focus its activity on supporting very recent graduates to acquire the higher-level skills required to either pursue postgraduate study or to successfully transition into the creative industries.
Jon Wardle, NFTS Director said: “We are thrilled to announce our expansion into Wales. The success of our other hubs, NFTS Scotland and NFTS Leeds have clearly demonstrated the demand for bespoke training and education in the Nations and Regions.
“With the creative industries across Wales thriving, as the UK’s National Film and Television School a key part of our strategy is to support the growth of film and television production outside of London. NFTS Wales will actively seek out and develop Welsh talent and provide students with a clear pathway into jobs within the industry.”

NFTS Model Makers Recreate Miniature Lunar Base from Moon
Every year, students of the NFTS Model Making Course build a replica set from a well-known film. For 2020, John Lee, NFTS Head of Model Making for Animation Diploma tasked his new cohort of model makers with replicating the interior of the ‘Sarang’ Lunar Base from the BAFTA winning sci-fi film Moon. Moon is a movie with a special place in John Lee’s heart, having created many of the model miniatures used in the original film, made at Shepperton Studios in 2009. Starring Sam Rockwell, the film was directed by Duncan Jones who joined the students via Zoom to help the students with their project brief!
The students were challenged with building a 1:8 scale miniature version of the Lunar Base, complete with practical lighting, props and a colossal amount of onset graphics, all in just five weeks.
At the NFTS, many different courses collaborate together and the Moon brief was combined with the NFTS Digital Effects MA course, incorporating their Motion Capture and Motion Control workshops to create an exciting promo sequence from the film.
See the results of this exciting project on our website and on our social media channels.

NFTS Animation Film selected for Sundance Film Festival 2021
We are thrilled that 2019 graduate animation film The Fire Next Time, has been selected for the prestigious Sundance Film Festival, the only UK animated short to be included.
The atmospheric and powerful seven minute film by Directing Animation MA graduate Renaldho Pelle was inspired by the 2011 London riots, blending hand painted character animation with stylised stop motion sets built to a scale of 1:50 by students of the Model Making for Animation Diploma.
The Sundance Film Festival will run online from 28th January to 3rd February 2021 with The Fire Next Time one of only three UK shorts screened. A total of just 50 ‘bold and creative’ shorts were selected by the Sundance Jury with 9,000 entries submitted from all over the world.
Head of Directing Animation, Robert Bradbrook said: “We’re very proud that The Fire Next Time has been selected for the Sundance Film Festival. The film follows an NFTS tradition of using animation to explore tricky subjects and exposing them to a wider audience.
Through his gestural brush-strokes, combined with the brutalist model sets of London estates, Renaldho beautifully captures the tensions in his neighbourhood that led to the 2011 riots. While the film was often difficult in the making, the final results highlight the outstanding teamwork within the production and a director who never gave up on his vision.”

    Hello Erik Monica,
Ready to get learning again? If you’re looking for inspiration, you may like this story of FutureLearner, Alice.
Alice took King’s College London’s Introduction to Business Management course and gained so much from it, that her family treated her to a FutureLearn Unlimited subscription.
Alice says “it felt great to see the completed status for a course on [my] FutureLearn profile, which made me smile! I also added the certificate I gained to my CV”.
Indeed, an Unlimited subscription allows you to study limitless short courses with top universities and organisations. Plus, you can earn as many digital certificates as you like.
So, if like Alice you’d like to boost your learning journey, earn certificates and add some serious edge to your CV, then an Unlimited subscription is a great choice.
Some of the most popular Unlimited courses are Business Ethics, Medicinal Chemistry and Irish Language and Culture. There’s plenty more to explore online.

    Hei,
