    QUOTE (bluemingr8 @ Nov 5 2009, 10:50 PM) *

I can understand some of the points you have raised, but unfortunately, that is the work environment of quite a few call centres in the UK. The main aim is to take as many calls as possible in each persons shift, to resolve as many queries as possible, etc. This means that general managers, shift managers and team leaders will always be instructed to find ways to reduce average handling times of calls. This means regular changes of scripts for calls and also frequent team meetings/briefs, to discuss AHT reports and to identify those staff members that need more 'Developing', because their AHT falls below the average time for the duration of their daily shift. You also mention that their was a fire alarm and that nobody knew it was a drill. Are your staff not notified by your fire wardens within your company as to what dates that the fire alarms are being tested? Also your fire wardens should make it quite clear that if a fire alarm continues for more than a set period of seconds (this is different within each company), then they should evacuate the building as if it were a real fire alarm.

In reference to people not being promoted based on their ability to do the job they are applying for, this unfortunately happens in a lot of call centres. The same thing also applies to team leaders not taking calls. This is because they are recruited externally and do not want to show their ignorance at not being able to use or understand the system that you use on a daily basis. There are a few team leaders in the company that I work for that fall within this category.

A lot of your points are valid ones, but you can hold as many forums and perspective sessions as you want, all they will boil down to is the same old shit, just a different session. I think you will lose whatever case you are building, because they will just print off the reports that detail all of the stats and they will use them against you.

    Hi,

you write that call-centers try to get a person to answer as many calls as possible.

But Arvato don't care about the employee.

You get screamed at, even if you don't do anything wrong.

If you use more than 15 seconds to log a tricky call, (maybe you want to write a note, of something you learned, from calling technical support etc.), then you get screamed at.

And that's horrible sitting there, and knowing that you can get screamed at all the time, by team-leaders who's only job, more or less, is to sit there monitoring the employees, they didn't want to answer tricky calls etc., so they weren't like second line, I'd say.

And I've been working as a food shop manager in Norway, and studied computing and business at Unversity-level, so I know that there are other ways of running a campaign, like the MSPA-campaign.

This was of management is illigal in the UK, I've been told, on the BBC message board.

I think in an employemt-contract, there are two parites, the company and the employee, where as on Arvato, it only seemed like it was the company.

The employees were forgotten and threated like dogs, at least at MSPA, but you can see that Miele-staff etc., also complained.

On the BBC-message board, call center managers from other call centers in the UK wrote, and said that this was an unacceptable way to run a call center:

    Men men.

Sorry at det blir mye spørsmål her.

    http://johncons-mirror.blogspot.com/2009/08/her-kan-vi-se-at-slekta-til-christell.html

    PS 2.

Her er den YouTube-videoen jeg lagde igår:

    http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=MOM_x-eooRE

People working on Bertelsmann Arvato's Microsoft Product Activation over the phone-campaigns, are being controled with the use of negative reinforcement, like if they were dogs. I've been having some …

Erik Ribsskog 5. november kl. 16:49

Altså, Rune Hestenes jobba som Driftsdirektør i Rimi.

Atlså to steg høyere enn distriktsjef.

    To meter høy nesten?

    Men men.

    Hvem vet.

    Noe sånt.

    Men men.

    Mvh.

Nyholm, judge in Cairo, from Denmark/Fwd: FW: About Diderik Galtrup Gjedde

Nyholm, judge in British imperial Egypt

    Hi,

I'm a Norwegian citizen, living in the UK.

I was adviced by the University of Cambridge,

    to contact you.

It's regarding my ancestor, Didrik Galtrup

Gjedde Nyholm, from Denmark, who was my grandmother, Ingeborg Ribsskog's

    grand-uncle.

He worked in an international court in Cairo,

and I was just wondering if I have illuminists/kabalists, in my family, so I

was wondering if he stated any interests in old egyptian religion etc., when he

got the job as a judge in Cairo?

Since I have so many 'New Age'-people in my

family, and my grandmother was also 'New Age', so I was wondering if the judge

was 'New Age', since the judge's brother, my grandmoters grandfather, the

general Anders (Gjedde) Nyholm, was in charge of all of Denmarks war-forces,

(chief of the generalkommando), in the 1920's, so I was wondering if he or

someone in my family, where 'New Age "spies"'.

Here is more about Didrik Galtrup Gjedde

    Nyholm:

SECOND YEAR BOOK OF THE LEAGUE OF

    NATIONS.

    DIDRIK GALTRUP GJEDDE NYHOLM (Denmark).

Member of the International Mixed Tribunal at

    Cairo since

1896 and Vice-President of that body since

    1916; Justice of

the Court of Appeals at Copenhagen; member of

    the Perma-

    nent Court of Arbitration at The Hague;

    author of one of the

draft schemes for an International Court of

    Justice used by

the Committee of International Jurists as a

    basis for the

scheme finally adopted by the League.

Thanks in advance for any help!

    Dear Erik,

My PhD supervisor Dr. Harper forwarded your

    email to me.

I think you should visit the National

Archives in person and explain to them the person you are looking for – the staff

are very good and you may find something there.

In Egypt, and many parts of the British

Empire, non-British Europeans often filled positions such as judges. The

British were only concerned to exclude natives of the country they were ruling

(at least until the later nineteenth century). Particularly in the Egyptian

case there was a long precedent of Europeans holding positions of power

(Egypt's ruler in the early nineteenth century Muhammad Ali was Albanian, and

many Europeans were employed in the finance ministry, the judiciary, the police

force, and especially the Army). I hope this answers your question.

    With best wishes,

Subject: About Diderik Galtrup Gjedde Nyholm,

    judge in British imperial Egypt

    Hi,

I'm a Norwegian citizen, who's living in the

UK, (due to problems with my family etc., without that I've done anything

wrong, that I know of, at least, in Norway), and I have a late grandmoter from

Denmark, Ingeborg Ribsskog, who said that she was from the Danish noble-family

    Gjedde.

But I've later found out, on the internet,

that they weren't noble after all, so this was a lie, I think I have to say.

And, in her family, was eg. her grandfather,

her mothers father, Anders Gjedde Nyholm, who was Chief of the Generalkommando,

that's the general with control on all of Denmarks war-forces, in the 1920's.

And her grand-uncle, was Diderik Galtrup

Gjedde Nyholm, who was a judge, for the British imperial courts, in Cairo, and

then later a judge in the International Court, in Hague, in the 1920's.

I wonder why they would lie about the noble

    backgroud.

Anders Gjedde Nyholm, only wrote A. Nyholm,

I've seen, as a signature, on official portrait-photographs in the Danish

    military-archives.

And their grandfather, was a farmers son,

I've read on Thisted Museum's, in Denmark's, website.

So they weren't noble, but they maybe used

the Gjedde-name to get prestige, because of the famous Admiral and colonisator

of Tharambangdi, in India, for Denmark-Norway, Ove Gjedde, was famous, and

maybe they pretended to be from the same family?

I've tried to serch the British National

Archives online, about this, but I got no result, so I didn't know how to try

to find out about this, other than contacting a good university.

I was wondering why the British Imperial

Courts in Cairo, would let a Dane, (my grandmothers grand-uncle), Diderik

Galtrup Gjedde Nyholm, be a judge, in the British Empire?

    Isn't this a bit strange, weren't this

positions normally given to people from the British Empire?

I hope you have the chance to answer about

this, or that you know of someone who might know about this!

I hope it's alright to ask about this, and I

    apologise, if it isn't.

    Yours sincerely,

    Erik Ribsskog

I think your company looked like a very dedicated company,

Like we say in Norway, there's a difference between shaving and cutting ones head off.

It doesn't need to be like going to a fun-fair going to work, but companies should follow British law, in Britain etc., and not be inhumane, I think.

And managers should not be cruel and harass and bully.

    That's my opinon at least.

    Well,

Norway had an empire kind of.

We had Ireland, Isle of Man, New Hebrids, Faro Islands, Shetland Islands, Greenland, North-America (Vinland), Norway of course, Iceland, Northern Scottland I think, York, and probably some places I forgot.

    PS.

It was called 'Norgesveldet', Norwegian wealth, and was in the Viking-age.

We also had some parts of what's Sweden now, and probably something more I forgot.

    PS 2.

That's right, I think some parts of the Wirral, Merseyside and Lancashire were Norwegian as well, but this could have been Norwegians that were chased from Ireland, for all that I know, this I don't know for sure.

    PS 3.

That's right. Everton is an old-Norse or old-Norwegian name, ton is from tun, which means in Norway, (gårds)tun, where gård means farm, meas area between the central buildings on a farm.

Ever is supposed to be from Eofr, or something, meaning swine.

But I think -ton/tun, means it's cultivated, so Everton perhaps means a place were the pigs were fenced in or perhaps just ran wild.

    Something like this.

But -ton/tun meant that it was in connection with a farm or buildings I'd guess.

    Something like this.

    Just something I remembered.

So Everton was also Norwegian I'd say. smile.gif
